Tim ParkerIn this episode of Impact Teams Radio, Implementation Rabbi Tony Sherman interviews return guest Tim Parker, Executive Coach, Leadership & Management Consultant and Special Project Management. Tim is the President of Parker Resource Management. Tim’s special expertise is with coaching technically oriented leaders. Tim believes a well managed work environment greatly enhances the positive attitudes of employees and customers, and overall productivity. Tim has been in the business for over 40 years, 24 years in military service, 5 years in State government and 10 plus years in the private sector.

In episode 34 of Impact Teams Radio, Tony Sherman and Tim Parker discuss how Leadership is important in today’s business world. Tim says that leadership is more important today than 30 years ago. Tim explains that the role of leadership has morphed from what it used to be. He says that the big companies are now mostly composed of the “Knowledge Workers” where their skills are not in their hands but in their heads. This is mostly true especially in virtual teams. This in turn creates a huge dynamic change for leaders and managers which is what is being done right now. Tim also explains that it is the people that is the key to success and not necessarily the infrastructure, technology and the process. He says that if the people are well lead, the other 3 factors will follow. Your people will always affect the implementation velocity of processes and infrastructure. This will in turn reduce rework since everything will be structured and orderly.

Leadership in professional services should prioritize customer impact, professional services training and customer loyalty. Leadership is a means to influence others, explains Tim. He says that influencing a person is very much different to manipulation which is often tied to leadership. It is not meant to be the same; it’s more like an attitude adjustment. Tim and Tony discuss more about ways to look at leadership in business. Listen to this week’s episode of Impact Teams Radio as Implementation Rabbi Tony Sherman and Tim Parker talk about the changing faces leadership in the 21st century.
