In this episode, Tony talked to a brilliant manager and good friend, Darlene Lee.
Darlene has travelled all over the world, working for different market research companies, and she shares the tools, strategies and knowledge on leadership training she has amassed over the years.
She shared how “the people” is always number one on her priority lists, whether it’s from taking care of her client network built over time, or helping personnel reach their full potential. She also discusses virtual teams, diversity in the workplace and how it affects the different factors in managing, evaluating, and motivating her staff.
She revealed how she started fresh in a company, and her strategy in discovering the company needs, gaining her people’s trust, and improving overall productivity by being proactive and open minded. She also highlights the importance of self-awareness and personal differences as a tool in being a better manager and leader.
More importantly, she gives advice for young managers on what skills to hone and the right perspective to have, in order to advance not only their management skills, but also using it in order to grow with your team, and build a sense of ownership for every staff managed.
